Former Kenya Volleyball Federation League Champions Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) failed to defend their Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone V Clubs Championship title after faling to Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR) in the final match played at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala, Uganda.
After reaching the final, the Geoffrey Omondi coached side fell to a disappointing 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 24-26, 23-25).
APR recorded their maiden title of the championships and becoming the first Rwandese side to defeat Pipeline in the competition.
On individual awards, Pipeline’s Leonida Kasaya was named Best Outside Hitter and Loice Simiyu earning the Best Server award.
It was another victory for the APR men’s team after lifting the title too with an emphatic 3-1 win over Rwanda Police Volleyball Club 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 18-25, 21-25).
