Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) volleyball head coach Kevin Mulinya is optimistic that he will carry home the titles at the end of the National Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) play-offs going on at the Kenyatta University (KU) grounds.
Mulinya, who led his men and women team win both titles last year at their base, dominated day one championships, winning all their two matches to match into the quarterfinals with ease.
“We won double last year and we want to retain out titles both in men and women so that we stamp the authority in the discipline,” said Mulinya.
Netball Champions KU and Kisii recorded victories in day one of the championships seeking to defend their titles.
In men, KU were 25-13 winners over Meru while Kisii beat Embu 21-20 in a narrow win.
In other men netball results, Technical University of Mombasa (TM) played to 24-24 against Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT), with Maseno beating St Paul’s University (SPU) 21-16, as Kisii recorded double vicory over Kabarak (34-09) and Tharaka’s 16-09 as Kabarak recovered well to shine over Machakos 23-13.
In women netball results, Machakos were 25 -11 winers against the University of Nairobi, KU stunning Bomet 40-0 as Maseno beat Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) 19-12 and Chuka stunning Egerton 17-12.
