The reigning Africa Games 4×100m relay bronze medalist Millicent Ndoro gold medal for the country at the ongoing World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships at the Gainesville in Florida, USA.
The national 200m record holder, Ndoro won the 200m gold for the country, setting the championships record of 24.48 seconds ahead of French international Sandy Delemarle who went home with silver in 25.30 as Great Britain’s Stacey Downie settled for bronze at 25.37 seconds.
She said that it was her first time to compete at the indoors and managed to come home victorious.
“It was a tough challenge but I was determined to make a difference in such tough condition, which I did,” said Ndoro.
Ndoro’s gold makes it three gold medals after Peter Mwangi won in shot put then Francis Bowen in 3,000m.
Kenya sent eight athletes and five officials at the championships due to vis hitch where the federation had selected 33 athletes for the national assignment.
