Reigning World under 20 5,000m Beatrice Chebet and upstart Michael Kibet were the winners of the 28th edition of Discovery Kenya Cross Country championships held today at Eldoret Sports Club.
Beatrice Chebet defeated 2017 world under 18 800m silver medalist Lydia Jeruto to claim 6km junior women as they will be seeking their slots for world cross country championships in Aarhus, Denmark.
Chebet from Londiani clocked 20:53.9 ahead of Jeruto’s 21:06.6 as Caren Chebet, the world under 18 2,000m steeplechase champion finished third in 21:20.5.
Kibet from West Pokot won the junior title in 24:20.3 edging out Muigai (24:23.7) and Reuben Longosiwa in third clocking 24:33.6.
