Winnie Chebet beat the reigning world under 20 1,500m champion Purity Chepkirui to retain her 1,500m title at the ongoing Africa Senior Athletics championships in Reduit, Mauritius today.
Chebet, who won the title in 2018, retained her title when she crossed the line in 4:16.10 leading Chepkirui to second after timing 4:16.28 for silver in a 1-2 kenyan podium finish as Ethiopia’s Ayal Dagnachew settled for bronze in 4:16.45, denying Kenya a podium sweep as Branda Chebet took fourth place in 4:17.25.
