Emily Chepkemoi Arusio and Victor Kipchirchir will be starting lineup of the 2025 Eldoret City marathon to defend her titles.
Arusio, the 2024 champion, said that she is preparing well to fit the event, aiming to be th first lady to defend the title on April 27th.
“I want to try my best to defend my tile. This race has provided me with a lot of privileges, and running here will open more doors of success,” said Arusio.
Coming from Elgeyo Marakwet County, she will be coming to compete for the 4th time.
“I first ran in 2021, failing to meet even in the top 20, which was my first marathon. In 2022, finishing 4th, 2023, I registered, but the race was called off. Then I came back in 2024, and I came victorious. It has been a good progression in this race,” said Arusio.
She won the race after timing 2:30.14 head of Martha Akeno in 2:31:22 and Joan Jepkemoi 2:34:16 for top three positions.
Kipchirchir, who won a hattrick in 2:12.50, ahead Felix Mutai in 2:12.56 and Evans Kipruto at 2:13.20.
