Approximately ten Ethiopian athletes are expected to compete at the 6th edition of the Eldoret City Marathon set for April 27th in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking during the launch of the race today morning in Eldoret, race director Moses Tanui said that the athletes will be competing in the race as part of their collaboration with the organizers of the annual Ethiopia Great Run.
“As part of promoting regional cohesion through sports, Ethiopian athletes will be coming to compete in this event,” said Tanui.
Ethiopian Run, organized by Haile Gebreselassie, has a great history with Tanui after competing during their youthful years in both the 10,000m and marathons.
Last year, Tanui and his enterage visited Ethiopia as well as Ethiopians were part of the 2024 race.
“We have a very good collaboration and working together in giving back to the society. Last year, we had the Eldoret City marathon winners Victor Kipchirchir and others competing in the race,” added Tanui.
