World 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech won the water and barriers race with a championships record at the ongoing Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
Chepkoech won the title in 9:15.62, lowering the championships record of 9:35.35 set by Ruth Bosibori in 2007 in Algiers, Algeria. She beat Ugandan and Olympic champion Peruz Jemutai.
Another Kenyans Purity Kirui and Caren Chebet finished sixth and seventh respectively.
