The reigning world 800m champion Mary Moraa won the 400m title with championships record in today’s Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
The Commonwealth Games 800m champion became the second Kenyan to win gold for the country after Emily Ngii retained her 20km walk race title to end the 37 year old wait for Kenyans to win gold after Francisca Chepkirui winning in 1987 and Tecla Chemabwai Sang won in 1973.
She won the one lap race in 50.57 seconds, beating Nigerian Joseph Esther Elo to tally Kenyans medal to 11.
This was her second medal after leading Mixed relays to win 4x400m mixed relay yesterday.
