Reigning Commonwealth Games 3,000m steeplechase champion Jackline Chepkoech defeated world 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech to win the London Diamond League held today in England.
The former world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion won the title with the personal best of 8:57.35 also erasing championships record of Ethiopia’s Almayew Sembo’s 9:00.71.
Chepkoech was second in a season’s best of 9:04.34 while home girl Pratt Aimee also had a season’s best of 9:16.10 for third.
The reigning Commonwealth Games 5,000m Beatrice Chebet recorded a season’s best of 14:12.92 to finish second in the 5,000m.
Chebet, who is also the world cross country champion finished the race behind champion Gudaf Tsegay (14:12.29) and Chebet’s and Sifan Hassan settled for third in 14:13.42.
Timothy Cheruiyot finished 8th in the 1500m at 3:31.44.
