Olympic 1,500m champion Faith Chepng’etich Kipyegon has one hurdle to defend her world 1,500m title when she qualified to run at the finals in Doha, Qatar at Khalifa International stadium on Thursday 3rd.
As Chepng’etich qualified, her compatriot Winnie Chebet also stormed into the women’s 1500m final.
In the first semifinal, Cheng’etich finished 4th won by Dutch Sifan (4:14.69) followed by American Shelby Houlihan and Morocco’s Rababe Arafi second and third respectively while Chepng’etich was 4th in 4:14.98.
Chebet finished fifth to also qualify in Heat 2 that was won by American Jenny Simpson in 4:00.99.
