Chepngetich to lead Korir and Tanui in women marathon in Oregon

Ruth Chepngetich is set to defend her marathon title at the ongoing World Athletics Championships Oregon, USA.

Chepngetich, who won the marathon title way back in 2019 will be cha back to back title in Doha when she clocked 2:32:43 after beating Rose Chelimo, and who settled for silver and Namibian Helalia for bronze.

She will be teaming up against Paris marathon champion Judith Jeptum and Amsterdam marathon champion Angela Tanui in absence of Olympic marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir.

Also in the mix will be by Gotytom Gebreslase, Ababel Yeshaneh, Ashete Bekere Keira D’Amato, Mizuki Matsuda, Mao Ichiyama and Hitomi Niiya.

Others are Bahrain’s Eunice Chumba, Lonah Salpeter, Eritrea’s Nazret Weldu among others.
