China ends Kenya Lionesses Paris Games journey

China defeated Kenya Lionesses to miss out at the Olympic Games rugby for women in Paris, France.

This will be the first time that Kenya rugby 7s will be missing at the Olympic Games since the introduction of women rugby in the games after losing 24-07 to China during the repechage Olympic final in Monaco, France.

The Kenya Lionesses aiming for their third consecutive Olympic appearance following their 2016 and 2021 participations but that went up in smoke with China proving to be a dominant force.

China’s Chen Keyi scored made the first try with Gu Yaoyao converting for a 7-0 lead as Dennis Mwanja’s replied when Grace Okullo touched down with Janet Okello converting for a 7-7 draw.

Keyi crossed over for 12-7 lead into break as Sun Yue extended the lead after the break to 17-7.

Yaoyao made another converted try for 24-07 victory.

With the victory, China will join New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and the USA, France, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, South Africa, Fiji, and Japan.
