Mara whip Mathare for NSL title

Mara Sugar were crowned the champions of National Super League (NSL) the second tier league in the country following their victory against former Kenya Premier league side Mathare United over the weekend.

The match played at the Awendo stadium, the host won 1-0 against the slum boys to hand them the title and direct promotion into the KPL next season.

So far, the sugar millers have accumulated 84 points ahead of Mathare with 82 points ahead of the final league match against Vihiga United.

Emmanuel Imbayi scored the solitary goal to hand them the title with both teams automatically qualifying into the KPL that starts in September.

Nairobi United and Naivas will be seeking promotion and demotion play-off after the final matches on Sunday.
