Chris Kinuthia is set to lead Kenya Golf Union (KGU) during the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) come Friday May 30th at the Muthaiga Golf Club.
Coming from Thika Sports Club, Kinuthia is set to be elected unopposed during the AGM, replacing David Ndung’u who has served for the last one year.
According to the circular, the AGM is a key event in the Union’s calendar, to review the Union’s activities, elect officials, and discuss strategic matters shaping the future of golf in Kenya.
Just like Kinuthia, majority of the officials will be elected unopposed. His vice chairman to be Brian Akun from Vet lab is unopposed as well as Weldon Mutai (Treasurer) from Sigona and Jonathan Marucha of Kenya Railways going for secretary position.
Kinuthia, who has been serving as vice chairman will be replaced by Ndung’u while Mutai, who has been serving as an executive member.
In addition to the office bearers, the AGM will also elect six representatives to the Executive Committee from a pool of nine nominees.
The candidates represent golf clubs from across the country, showcasing the depth and diversity of talent and leadership within the Union:
James Gitonga (Mombasa), Kevin Muchiri (Limuru), Liban Roba (Karen), Peter Mwangi (Royal Nairobi), Peter Mwaura Kimani (Ruiru), Philip Ondieki (Kiambu), Robert Ngugi (Muthaiga), Robert Obondy (Nakuru) and Sam Kangau (Windsor),
The six elected individuals will join the office bearers to help guide its mission of growing and developing golf across Kenya.
Voting will be conducted by nominated delegates from affiliated clubs, along with the two immediate past chairmen of the Union and the current executive committee members.
A special item on this year’s agenda includes a proposal by the Union to increase the annual affiliation fee from KES 3,000 to KES 4,000. This adjustment, if approved, aims to strengthen the Union’s capacity to support its programs and initiatives nationally
