Top politicians led by Nandi senator Samson Cherargei and Uasin Gishu women reprehensive Gladys Boss Shollei have accused Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba of sleeping in his job.
Cherargei, on his twitter account accused Namwamba for officials to fly first class with their girlfriends to Olympics Budapest, Hungary at the expense of our athletes.
Remember what is happening in Budapest is not Olympics but the World Athletics championships.
“Tonight I echo sentiments of Hon. Ichungwa Majority Leader National assembly that Cs Ababu continues to mismanage into oblivion our beloved sports. How can ministry officials fly first class with their girlfriends to Olympics Budapest, Hungary at the expense of our athletes ? Our female athletes being exploited sexually & economically! Parliament must summon CS sports to avert disastrous mismanagement of our sports,” posted the twit.
National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wa started the storm in paliarment last week when he accused the CS of misusing Kenya’s money.
“You were not made a minister to fly flags in the street and bulldoze you war through traffic with Subaru escorts – MPs slam CS Ababu Namwamba for ignoring athletes,” said Ichung’wa.
Shollei on the other hand accused the former law maker that he spend money on low quality kits for team Kenya.
“The other day, our team went to Tunisia for the Beach games. They were wearing fake sports gear. I think is was fake Adidas knockoffs from River Road. By the time a country’s athletes wear fake uniforms then there is something wrong,” said Shollei.
But the legislature failed to understand that Kenya doesn’t wear Adidas but Nike.
In a rejoinder the CS wrote a letter to both the senate and the national government to appear forquastinong.
“Sports CS Ababu Namwamba has written to the National Assembly and the Senate speakers requesting that he be summoned to appear before the houses to respond to queries raised by Kikuyu MP Hon. Kimani Ichungwa and Nandi Senator Hon. Simon Cherargai touching on his ministry.”
Former Cherangany MP Wesley Korir defended Ababu saying: “For many years Kenya Academy of sports ( KAS) has been dormant and many of us didn’t even know it existed but in just couple of months Ababu has activated it and now you can feel it’s presence everywhere. Soon they will be opening offices in each county.”
