Conseslas Kipruto won Kenya the second gold at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia today, leading a podium sweep in 3,000m steeplechase.
Kiprtuo, the Olympic and world champion in water and barriers, won the medal that was missing in his medal cabinet since starting his career as a junior runner.
He led Abraham Kibiwott for silver and Amnos Kirui to bronze medals at the final race
Kipruto clocked 8:10.08, setting a new Commonwealth Games record with Kibiwott winning silver in 8:10.62 as World Junior champion Kirui bagged bronze after clocking 8:12.24.
Kipruto constantly took time to charge his mates, even at some point managing to clap Kibiwott through when the 21-year old seemed to tire off, but the most exciting finish came through Kirui in a dive for bronze.
