- Athletics
Kenyan athletes shone in various world events across the world, with Eliud Kipchoge breaking the world record during the 2018 berlin marathon on 16th September 2016. He brought down Dennis Kimetto’s of 2:02.57 to 2:01.39.
Apart from Kipchoge, Kenya team won the overall title during the World U20 championships in Tampere, Finland 6 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.
A week later, Kenyan runners topped African continent in the Africa Senior Athletics held in Asaba, Nigeria, our Youth dominated the Africa Youth Championships in Algeria and at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
- Football
Kenya soccer team Harambee Stars long wait to compete at the Africa Cup of Nations will come to an end following their victory against Black Stars of Ghana and Ethiopia’s Walya Antelope. If they make it, they will end a 14 year old drought since they competed in 2004.
Last December, the national team won the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.
Their women counterparts Harambee Starlets will be making it to the Afroca Women Cup of Nations after their opponents Equatorial Guinea was disqualified after fielding illegible players.
- Volleyball
Despite failing to make it past group stages at the FIVB World Women volleyball championships in Japan, the national women team Malkia Strikers made Kenya and Africa at large to compete at the championships.
- World Masters
Kenya team to this year’s world Athletics Masters event in Malaga Spain, brought a number of gold medals.
- Golf
For the third time, Kenya team won the Victoria Cup against Uganda played at par 72 Vet Lab Sports Club. Kenyan professional golfer Dismas Indiza won the Uganda Open golf championships in Entebbe, Uganda as top amateur John Karuiki finished second in the Pro-Am.
- Scrabble
Livingstone Zambia was the place where top seed Kenyan scrabble players won the East, Central and Southern Africa Scrabble championships to retain their title.
