Double victory for Chepkemoi as Kibet shines in RVSSSA cross country in Eldoret

It was double victory for the reigning Africa under 20 5000m Mercy Chepkemoi at the concluded Rift valley Secondary Schools Sports Association term one games at the University of Eldoret grounds.

Chepkemoi, the 5,000m winner added a cross country title for the girls category while Frankline Kibet Chebet  won the boys’ title.

Coming from Tiloa secondary school in Kuresoi, Chepkemoi clinched the 6km under 20 title when she timed 19.02.00.

Facing compatriot Joyline chepkemoi, the duo faced off in the 5,000m as Mercy triumphed and for the second time, Joyline fell second when she clocked 19.05.4 while Damaris cherono Of Elgeyo Marakwet timed 19.10.2 to close the top three.

The form four student, Chekpkemoi said she wants to do well in the nationals in Mombasa.

“Am going to improve on my speed and endurance in the training.” Said Chepkemoi.

Rift Valley region secondary sports Association chairman Patrick Kipkenda said they will be going to Mombasa as a defending champion in various discipline.

“The event started well up to the end most teams have won their titles back others have lost ,we are going to Mombasa as defending champion and i know will perform better than before the teams have shown prowess.
