Athletes who competed at the second edition of Eldoret City marathon are set to be feted next Friday.
According to race director Moses Tanui, the athletes who competed in the race are set to be rewarded on 19th July in Eldoret. The race was held on 21st April 2019 in Eldoret.
Tanui, the two time Boston marathon champion said they were waiting for Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) results before rewarding the athletes to avoid feting the cheats.
βThe Doping results are now out and we expect all athletes who deserve the prizes to be available on that day. It has take long and the wait has been real but that will come to an end on Friday,β said the former world 10,000m champion.
Winners in both men and women will pocket kshs 3.5 million trickling down to 20th finisher in one of the most lucrative races in Africa.
But reliable sources have claimed that some athletes might have used some banned substances in the race.
“Doping is a serious issue in the country and I have some information that some top athletes might have dopped. Let us wait and see,” alleged the informer.
