Newly crowned Eldoret City is set to host the African Road Cycling Championship next month.
The pedaling extravaganza that will be hosted for the first time in Kenya in the Uasin Gishu County on October 9 – 13, 2024.
Sports, County Executive for Sports Eng. Lucy Ng’endo said the County Government welcomes the idea that further uplifts Uasin Gishu as a sports giant.
“As the city of champions we have all it takes because this event will also motivate our young people to join cycling as a sport,” said Ng’endo, adding that the County is ready to get right into planning.
Cyclists representing African countries will battle it out for the men’s and women’s titles. Each country will be represented by 8 athletes from each category.
Last year, Golazo Sports in partnership with the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC), held a cycling championship in Ghana where at least 22 countries participated.
The team later visited the Uasin Gishu county commissioner Dr. Edison Nyale office for a brief and further planning to ensure the event is coordinated smoothly.
