Elfin Evans has been crowned the World Rally Championships, the Kenya Rally champions that came to an end today in Naivasha, Kenya.
Following Kenya’s victory, the Welshman has extended the lead at the top of the WRC standings after back-to-back wins, Sweden and Kenya after three of the 14 rounds with defending champion Thierry Neuville in second.
Kenya’s double victor Kalle Rovanpera was forced to retire today with electrical issue on his Toyota.
The Toyota driver has finished runner-up in the championship on four occasions, with a 1 minute 9-second lead over Hyundai’s Ott Tanak as Estonian’s Belgian teammate Neuville finished third at 3min 32sec.
Finland’s Sami Pajari (Toyota) took fourth place, ahead of his Japanese team-mate Takamoto Katsuta, who rolled his Toyota on the final stage as he pressed for bonus points.
The next stage of the WRC World Championship will take place at the end of April with the Rally of the Canary Islands
