Elim fC will be opening their promotion chance against Lwanda Villa FC in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Western Region in the play-offs set for this weekend at the Kenyatta stadium in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
The four team, Elim, Lwanda Villa, Kona Rangers and Chewoyet fc mini league playing in Division Two will be seeking promotion into Division One in the coming 2020/2021 season in the two day of action, starting from Saturday 14th to Sunday 15th November 2020.
Hosts Elim will use home ground advantage as they continue building their fan base back home and the win will propel them to earn more fans in the vast county.
The team, run by the church, Elim Pentecostal Church won Division Two Zone B, will be playing Villa, the second placed team in Zone A.
Elim Team Manager Boniface Odour said they are prepared for they are preparing well for the mini league by trying to make everything work positively for the boys.
“We are working on the final touches to ensure that everything works to our advantage and be promoted. To be where we are is a hand of God. We believe and trust in God who has brought us this far,” said Odour.
As an evangelism team, Oduor said they have to serve the purpose of spreading the gospel of God to the players and as the host, it is an advantage because when they play the games, they will be spreading the God’s word.
“We are not good for the league but we believe that God will provide the title for promotion. As the host, we face the challenges because it is not good to lose at home since we are building our fan base. We are an evangelism team derived from Exodus Chapter 27 from the journey of Israelites to the Promised Land,” explained Odour.
Vihiga based Villa Secretary General Steve Munala is optimistic that they will win the title and be promoted.
“We are training well for mental strength. We train once a day because we are ready for promotion just like our opponents, yearning for the title,” said Munala.
Munala said they were leading Zone B before coronavirus hit the country but since they had not played more games, they were relegated to second and Kona Rangers from Bungoma County were awarded the top position.
Others teams for the mini league are Chewoyet FC from West Pokot County who finished second behind Elim.
