Double Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has been nominated for the Men’s World Athlete of this year.
The world marathon record holder will be battling for the title for the 9th time in a row. After setting the new world record at 2:01.09, at the Berlin marathon, he had also won the Tokyo Marathon in 2:02:40 and will be up against world 200m champion Noah Lyles of USA, World discus champion Kristjan Ceh of Slovenia, World 400m hurdles champion Alison dos Santos of Brazil, World pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis of Sweden and World 3000m steeplechase champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morroco.
World 110m hurdles champion Grant Holloway of USA, World 5000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway, World javelin champion Anderson Peters of Grenada and World triple jump champion Pedro Pichardo of Portugal have also been nominated.
The voting process starts this week and a three-way voting process will determine the finalists.
Fans can vote online via the World Athletics social media platforms. The World Athletics Council and the World Athletics Family will cast their votes by email.
