Nandi Bears golfer Elly Barno edged out Rwandese International Hitayezu Jean D’Amour to win the Mount Kenya Championships, the second leg of Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series that came to an end today at the par 72 Nyeri Golf club.
Barno, the winner of last year’s Nandi Shield Open fired Three over par 219, beating Jean with a shot at four over par 220 with Golf Park’s Josphat Rono completing the podium at six over 222.
In the absence of defending champion Felix Dusabe from Rwanda, the championships presented an opportunity for a new champion with Rono playing to the top in the three day championships that teed off on Friday in a 54 hole championships.
