Former champion Elvis Muigua will be seeking to reclaim the Gold Field Trophy title, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series that tees off tomorrow at the kakamega Golf Club.
The three day event that starts on Friday June 27th to 29th has attracted 66 top amateurs in search of points ahead of Magical Kenya Open 2026 slots.
Muigua, who won the title in 2023, is set to headline the championships with defending champion and current series leader John Lejirma missing out of this year’s event.
Homegrown talents in Cedric Kanzolo and Julius Oketch will be vying for top honors on familiar turf, with Ebill Omollo, Isaac Makokha, and Naom Wafula being some of the top contenders on the roster to grace the fairways.
Lejirma firmly leads the ranking with 1,555 points, followed by Michael Karanga, who has 1,063 points, and Muigua sits third with 766.
All participants will compete in the first two rounds on Friday and Saturday, after which the top 33 players, including ties, will advance to the final round on Sunday.
Tournament Director Brian Akun extended his gratitude to Kakamega Golf Club for making the course available for this prestigious event.
“We are deeply thankful to Kakamega Golf Club for opening its doors to this elite amateur showcase,” said Akun.
