Diana Emali and Micah Chepkogei were the winners of 400h hurdles in girls and boys titles at the Uasin Gishu Primary Schools Sports Association (UGPSSA) held today at The University of Eldoret (UOE) track.
Email, despite competing in the second heat, the Lelmokwo pupil ran the fastest time of 70:13 to emerge victorious after capilising on Sahron Rotich, who fell in the third hurdle to book for Rift Valley Regional Games to be staged in two weeks time in Kapsabet.

Rotich from Karona, recovered well from the fall complete the podium in 70.74 Kaboi’s Ruth Jepkorir who won the second heat managed second position after timing 70:23.
Lower Sosion’s Micah Chepkogei won the boys category following his victory in heat one. The class eight pupil edged out Alex Kiptum of Meibeki and Gilbert Kimutai of Tingwa timing 58:09, 58:77 and 59:37 respectively.

In other races of the day, Abraham Kibiwott and Mercy Jepngetich won the boys and girls’ 5,000m walk.
Kibiwott from Hidden Treasure clocked 25:55.23 to defeat Shadrack Kipchirchir (26:19.31) while Busy Bee’s Jepng’etich clocked 30:04 for the title ahead of Winny Afandi (30:31) from Osorongai and Sinonin’s Abigael Rotich who timed 30:34.
UGPSSA chairman Paul Tororei said they are using the championships to slecet a formidable team ahead of the regional championships in Nandi.
“Last year, we finished third overall from the 14 counties but we want to have a good team that will help us earn the first position,” said Tororei who also serves as the Uasin Gishu County Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman.
