Emmanuel Wanyonyi beaten as Brandon Miller set record at London Diamond League

Reigning world Athletics 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi failed to shine at London Diamond League held today July 18 in England.

Wanyonyi finished 4th after clocking 1:43.30 behind American Brandon Miller produced a sensational performance to claim victory in a personal best 1:42.19.

Ireland’s Mark English was second in 1:42.97 as Britain’s Max Burgin completed the podium on home soil at 1:43.30.

Wanyonyi has been consistent across multiple middle-distance events won the 1500m at the Kip Keino Classic, second at the Rabat Meeting, second in Oslo then 1000m victory with a world record of 2:11.83.

Meanwhile, Margaret Akidor managed to finish in position 18th in the 3,000m when she clocked 8:37.45 in a race won by Australian Jessica Hall (8:24.69) followed by compatriot Rose Davies (8:25.38) and Sarah Healy (8:25.63).
