Erick Maugo Sikuku won Kenya’s 4th gold medal at the ongoing World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships at the Gainesville in Florida, USA.
Competing in 3,000m race walk 50-54 years of age, Sikuku won the title in 12:34.20 ahead of Canadian Dmitry Babenko with silver at 13:25.39 and Mexican Etiel Soto Maldonado settled for bronze in 13:35.25.
He follows earlier gold medals by Millicent Ndoro in 200m, Peter Mwangi won in shot put then Francis Bowen in 3,000m.
Kenya sent eight athletes and five officials at the championships due to visa hitch where the federation had selected 33 athletes for the national assignment.
