Eunice Kadogo ready for 2020 IAAF Diamond League series

All Africa Games 100m silver medalist Eunice Kadogo is bracing to make her debut at the 2020 IAAF Diamond League series.

Kadongo, who has dominated Kenyan sprinters alongside Maximilla Imali, Fresha wangari, Joan Jerono, Diana Chebet and Hellen Syombua said her focus is to compete well at the All Africa Games set for August in Morocco’s Casablanca and world championships in Doha, Qatar.

“My focus now it to win a medal at the All Africa Games and Doha, which will be my gateway to Diamond League. It has always been my dream to run in such global outing,” said the former 100m national record holder.

Speaking after finishing second in 100m in 11.9 behind the winner Imali in 11.9 during the third and last Athletics Kenya track and field championships at Narok stadium over the weekend, Kadogo said she has not got good time to make her compete at the Diamond League but next year will be her year of change.

“I have not gained the needed qualifying time for Diamond League but am hoping come 2020, I will have made the cut. The two championships, All Africa Games and world championships will make a difference in my life,” said the athlete who runs for National Police Service.

The 25 year old has represented Kenya in various world championships and she was in 4x200m at the concluded World relays in Yokohama Japan where baton exchange flopped costing them a medal. She combned forces with Chebet, Wangari and Cherono.

“I believe hard work will have good dividends after following my coaches’ instructions. Am planning at least to come home with a medal in the two championships,” said Kadogo who trains in Kiganjo, where she is preparing for National championships ahead of all Africa games.

“I have not made the qualifying time for Diamond leagues but I will be there next year. I will my best to cut into Doha team. I have run 11.8 in 100m and 23.5 in 200m,” she concluded.
