Faith Cherotich settle for silver as Yavi sets an Olympic record at Paris Games

Kenya’s Faith Cherotich won bronze in the 3,000m steeplechase at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris, France.

The race was won by Kenyan-born turned Bhranian Wilfred Yavi with a new Olympic Games record.

Yavi won the gold medal in 8:52.76 after then defending champion Peruth Chemutai from Uganda who managed silver before Cherotich completed the podium on her Olympic debut.

Other Kenyans Beatrice Chepkoech, who is the world record holder in the water and barriers finished sixth.
