FIFA Ranking: Kenya’s Harambee Stars moves two steps up

Kenya National men’s football team Harambee Stars has moved two places up in the latest FIFA ranking released today.

The Benni McCarthy coached side, after recording mixed results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast, the country moved from position 111 to 109.

This came after a 1-0 win against Burundi in Bujumbura and a 3-0 loss to Ivory Coast pool F matches with Kenya finishing 4th on 12 points, 14 behind Ivory Coast who returned to the global showpiece after a 11-year absence.

In the East Africa, Uganda tops at position 83 globally after dropping one position then Tanzania’s Taifa Stars is second and 107 globally and then Kenya, Rwanda at 131 while Burundi have dropped down four places to 145.

Morocco retain its top spot in Africa followed by Senegal in second on the continent but 18th in the world, Egypt, 32, up three places, Algeria 4th while Nigeria complete the top five in Africa at position 41 globally.

In the world, Spain are top, followed by Argentina, France and England while Portugal completes the top five in the world
