Three nations, Spain Portugal and Switzerland are the latest nations to qualify into the round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.
Spain edged out Austria as Portugal beat Croatia before Switzerland shone over Algeria in the round of 32 to make it to the best 16 in the world.
Spain 3-0 Austria
Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice when Spain outclassed Austria on Thursday evening before Pedro Porro netted one in the 3-0 thrashing at the Los Angeles Sofi stadium.
Oyarzabal scored first in the 36th minute before Porro doubled in the 66th minute and Oyarzabal was on target again for the second on his name and third for the 2010 champions.
Following their victory, they will face off against Portugal who beat Croatia.
Portugal 2-1 Croatia
Portugal came from a goal down to Croatia 2-1 at the Toronto stadium in Canada.
Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Ramos were enough to seal the round of 16 with Ivan Perisic netting for Croatia.
Perisic opened the scoring for Croatia in the 53rd minute for 1-0 but defiant Portugal leveled through Ronaldo from a spot kick in the 68th minute before Ramos sealing the victory in the 90+4 minutes.
Portugal will face Spain in round of 16.
Switzerland 2-0 Algeria
Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye were on target when Switzerland defeated Algeria to book for a slot into round 16.
The duo scored in 10th and 46th minutes respectively to seal the position
