Faith Boke and Brenda Achieng were on target when Kenya’s Junior Starlets defeated South Africa to secure a second consecutive FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualification.
The Mildred Checeh coached side beat their hosts 2-0 over South Africa’s Bantwana in the first leg of the final qualifying round at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
Boke opened the scoring before goalkeeper Mitchell Okoyo kept Kenya ahead with a crucial penalty save. Achieng sealed the win with a second-half strike, giving Kenya a valuable two-goal cushion ahead of the return leg in Nairobi. A positive result at home will send the Junior Starlets to this year’s World Cup in Morocco.
