First contingent leaves for Budapest

First contingent of Kenyan athletes left the country today ahead of World Athletics Championships set for Budapest, Hungary later this week.

With Athletics Kenya fielding 54 athletes at the championships set to kick off from August 19^th to 27^th, they will be joined by others after a camping at the Kasarani stadium for their daily training.

The Julius Kirwa coached side has had injuries with the likes of Kibiwott Kandie being replaced by world under 20 cross country champion Ishmael Kipkurui in the 10,000m, Brenda Chebet replacing Purity Chepkirui.

Others include Ferdinand Omanyala, Faith Kipyegon among others.
