FKF trains 23 coaches in Uasin Gushu

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) trained 23 football coaches in Uasin Gishu county in a course that took ten days.

The FKF instructor Patrick Wanjau said 28 coaches started the course from 26th February but 23 completed, which he says its a good number.

Wanjau said program included psychology, violence prevention, conflict resolution and sports for development.

We are telling our coaches that when they deal with the youth, they need also to mentor them, to empower and know who they are not just players but human beings and a larger community,” said Wanjau.

All coaches received basic and advance course where the first week, they were dealing with basic course and ended with advanced level. The course was an all inclusive, no matter the level of your team. It was across the board and all coaches trained despite of their tier

We don’t want to discriminate any coach because we want all of them to be licensed and there are people who have passion of coaching those teams of all categories and you find themselves doing very well. We need to have common curriculum that’s followed by all coaches like it happens in developed countries,” said Wanjau.

Uasin Gishu FKF Paul Tororei said the initiative was good for local coaches who will propel the county to a higher level.

“This is good initiative for our coaches who are doing excellent job to improve football within our county,” said Tororei.
