Free from injury, Amos Kipruto to battle for Chicago marathon title

Free from tendon tear injury, the former London marathon Amos Kipruto has focused on competing at the Chicago marathon set for October in the USA.

Kipruto, who has been out of competition the whole of last season, said that he has been out from November but he is back.

“I was to race at London marathon this year but I had to cancel because of the injury. It was very late for me to compete in London when I had just healed from injury,” said Kipruto.

He narrated that in 2021 during Olympic Games in Tokyo, he fell and picked a tendon tear in his knee that kept him off many races after consulting with his management and doctors, he was advised to rest.

“Through that I must thank the management and my coach Claudio Barraldelli and the entire Demadonna for giving me support throughout the lowest moment and up to now. I still thank my management and I am standing here because of my coach who supported and talked to me that I will be back,” he said.

On Chicago, race, he said that he has a big task and challenge after coming from an injury, meaning he has to work extra hard to prove that he still a strong athlete.

“I know everything will be good in Chicago. I am looking forward to race again facing off with fellow athletes. I am telling my fans across the world that I am back, free from injury. I want them to come and cheer me up,” he said.

At the same time, Kipruto urged cooperates to support athletes with many races across the country especially at the grassroots.

As an ambassador of Betika Community Road Races, he said that he is a respected runner and due to his discipline, he has to spread love and kindness.

“I am here to motivate fellow young athletes and to show that I am here to support them. Having many series of athletics is good in nurturing talents because many athletes from remote areas will come to run and through the initiative. It will also be good for track events to be brought to the scene,” he said.
