Gilbert Cheruiyot on touch-line today at #AFCON

Gilbert Cheruiyot will officiate Cameroon against Ghana in the last match on Saturday in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cairo, Egypt.

The Kenyan referee was selected among the match officials for the game as one of the two Kenyan match officials at the tournament, who will serve as the second assistant referee.

At the center of the game will be Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tessema Weyesa who like Cheruiyot, will also be doing his second match at the finals after earlier officiating in the Tunisia versus Angola game.

Sudanese official Mohamed Ibrahim will be the first assistant referee in the game and Algerian Mustapha Ghorbal will serve as the fourth official.

Cheruiyot first officiated in the game pitting Morocco against Namibia, which ended 1 – 1.

The other Kenyan referee at the showpiece is Peter Waweru Kamaku, who is officiating in his first AFCON tournament. Kamaku has served in two matches already, both as the fourth official.

He was first appointed for the Tunisia versus Angola game then also served in the Tunisia versus Mali game. Both matches ended 1 – 1
