Former world 3,000m steeplechase champion Hyvin Kiyeng and and Olympic 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon Chepngetich will highlight the Prefontaine Classic, the 7th leg IAAF Diamond League set for this weekend in Eugene, USA.
Kiyeng from Global Sports Communication will lead her Kenyan compatriots in her favourite water and barriers while Chepng’etich will compete in her 1,500m race.
The 2017 World championships 3,000m steepelcahse bronze medalist will be competing alongside Beatrice Chepkoech, Mercy Chepkurui, Roseline Chepngetich, Celliphine Chespol, Daisy Chepkemei and her sister Norah Jeruto and Caroline Tuigong.
Kiyeng is also the 2011 All Africa Games 3,000m steeplechase champion and 2012 Africa Senior athletics bronze medalist.
Chepngetich, the world 1,500m champion is returning from a long leave and will be on track for the first time after two years as she faces Winny Chebet in the race.
In men’s one mile, 1,500m runner Timothy Cheruiyot will put aside his travelling challenges to reign supreme against Emmanuel Birgen, world champion Elijah Managoi and Timothy Sein.
