Gor book Leopards at FKF Cup final

Ten time champions AFC Leopards will be facing off with Gor Mahia at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup final to be played next month.

Leopards and Gor won in their semifinals played today at the Utalii grounds.

In the first semifinal, Leopards defeated Equity 6-5 in post-match penalties following a barren draw in regulation time while Gor were 5-2 winners following 1-all draw against Bidco United.

Leopards’ second-choice goalkeeper John Oyemba saved Stephen Ologi’s penalty, to put coach Patrick Aussems’ side.

Levian Ochieng missed Equity’s other penalty as Alvin Wafula, Evans Ocheing, Derrick Ayisi, Kigaru Juma and goalkeeper Timothy Ngugi converted. 

Leopards’ penalties were converted by Captain Isaac Kipyegon, Elvis Rupia, Hansel Ochieng, Said Tsuma, Washington Munene and Clyde Senaji. Austin Odhiambo missed Leopards other penalty.

Leopards qualified into the semifinals following their 1-0 win against former champions Tusker with the only goal scored by Isaac Kipyegon.

Gor and Bidco battled to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes and penalties were used to decide the winner.

Kenneth Muguna scored first for Gor before Bidco’s David Orem leveled in the 19th minute as they KPL champions completed the match with ten men after Philemon Otieno was red-carded.

Alpha Onyango, Clifton Miheso, John Macharia and Samuel Onyango all converted their penalties while Anthony Simasi was the only player to convert Bidco’s penalty, with Zacharia Gathu and David Orem failing to score.
