Government unveils venues for AFCON 2027

With almost a year before the Confederation of African Football (CAF) 2027, the government has unveiled playing and training grounds for the teams.

Today, the Principal Secretary in the ministry of sports Elijah Mwangi outlined the venues that will be co-hosted by Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.

Mwangi said that the under construction Talanta Sports City Stadium and the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani will be the main venues in Kenya while Nyayo Stadium is an alternative venue.

He said that facilities like Ulinzi Sports Complex, Police Sacco Grounds, Moi International Sports Centre Annex 1 and Annex 2, Kenya Academy of Sports Grounds 1 and 2, Utalii College Grounds, Talanta Sports City Stadium 1 and Kirigiti Stadium will be used for training purposes.

He also pointed to Kenya’s experience of hosting CHAN 2024 as a strong foundation for AFCON readiness, expressing confidence that the country is capable of delivering a successful continental showpiece
