Gracemary Karira posted 67 net to win the inaugural Nova Pioneer golf tournament played at Eldoret golf club.
Teeing off at handicap 15, stunned former club captains James Waweru and Kamal Shahto win the title on home turf.
Playing alongside Charles Ng’ang’a, P. Mwangi and former lady captain Lina Shah, posted six over par 41 in each nine for a total of 82 gross to claim the title.
She fired three pars and six bogeys in the inward nine. She leveled in the opening two holes, dropped a shot in three, four, five and six, parred in 7 and dropped one in 8 and 9. In the last half, she started with back to back pars on 10th and 11, dropped a shot in 12th parred in 13, bogeyed one in 14, 15th and 16th before concluding with pars in 17th and 18th for a total of 41 gross.
She said she had an early morning training at 6:30 am on Tuesday and Wednesday, which is her usual training time, before playing Baobab event on Thursday that sharpened her skills ahead of Saturday encounter.
“I guess all the training and Baobab play prepared me well for the tournament. I pared so many holes, which was good score. I look forward to doing better in the upcoming Kenya seed tournament,” she said.
Handicap 10 Waweru posted the lowest gross of 78 to finish second as Kamal Shah, teeing off at handicap 12 completing the podium with 68.
