Reigning Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league champions General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenya Prison are among top teams that will be competing for the inaugural Nandi County governor’s Cup this weekend.
The two-day event that serves off on Saturday to Sunday at Kapsabet Showground has attracted top clubs, schools and individuals teams fighting for the coveted top prizes in Nandi County.
Sports Chief Executive officer Kennedy Tanui said they are through with all preparations, ready for the tournament.
“This is the first time we are doing this and we have to prepare a very successful tournament. We have about kshs 500,000 for prize money and that will make the teams pocket good cash,” said Tanui.
He added that county boss Stephen Sang will be at the event to cheer the teams as they battle for top positions.
“The governor himself will be around to see the progress. As a source of Champions, we have all talents and sponsoring such an event is part of sourcing champions, and nurturing them to better sportsmen and women in the country,” added Tanui.
He added that top schools will also be competing in their categories.
“Nandi County has the best volleyball schools like Lemolkwo, Cheptil among others. They have an opportunity to showcase their talents here,” added Tanui.
