Harambee Starlets: national women’s team moves six places up

Harambee Starlets, the Kenya national women football team has moved six places up in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on today.

The Starlets is now placed at 108 in the world, up from 114following their good results in the past matches, after competing at this year’s Africa Women Cupof Nations (AWCON)  in Cameroon.

Kenya gained 13 points in the ranking from 857 to 870 in Friday’s release as African champions Nigeria, The Super Falcons still leads the continent and 37th in the world.

The Starlets lies number 13 on the African Continent as Nigeria takes lead followed by Ghana in the second place and 46th place in the world while Cameroon, which concludes top three places on African continent is placed 48th worldwide.

Equatorial Guinea, who played are fourth in the continent and 53rd worldwide as Cosafa champions South Africa are 5th and 54th in the world.

World’s super power and reigning world champions United States of America (USA) remain the world’s number one for the third successive year that they have finished on top.

Germany retained the second spot, England finish the year in third and Australia are fourth and Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medalists Canada wrap up the world’s top five as 2019 World Cup hosts France drop from 4th to 6th.
