World 800m bronze medalist Ferguson Rotich was welcomed by Kericho County Government after winning silver at the concluded Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
During the heroic welcome by the leadership led by Governor Paul Chepkwony, the two lap race specialist, naming him the Goodwill Ambassador for the fight against Drugs and Substance Abuse.
Rotich went across the town with the Kenyan flag after he clocked 1:45.23 to settle for silver behind champion Emmanuel Korir.
Rotich is confident that the performance would propel him to do even better in future competitions.
“Like other athletes, the restrictions on travel, training and the postponement of the Olympics affected my performance but I am glad I was able to cross the finish line second behind my compatriot Emmanuel Korir,” Rotich said.
