In pool B math at the same venue, Uganda edged out Senegal in straight sets of 25-21, 25-15, 25-16 before the reigning silver medalist Egypt beating Burkina Faso with similar sets of 25-3, 25-15, 25-15 while former champions Cameroon secured won 3-0 to Ghana at 25-16, 25-20, 25-14
At Ulinzi Sports Complex, DRC Congo were 3-0 winners over Burundi in 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 as Rwanda swept off Algeria in straight sets of 25-22, 25-20, 25-16 before Tunisia coming from a set down to whip Nigeria 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20) as the only match with a dropped set.
