Hole-in-one to be rewarded at Safari Tour in Muthaiga

Johnnie Walker has today announced that it will award the first golfer who holes out in one at the Muthaiga Golf Club leg of the Safari Tour Golf series. The lucky golfer will receive a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

The Johnnie Walker Hole-In-One prize will be on offer at the Par-3, 13th hole at Muthaiga Golf Club for the duration of the Safari Tour competition.

Making the announcement, East Africa Breweries Limited Marketing and Innovation Director, Graham Villiers-Tuthill, expressed the brand’s delight in awarding the prize during the Muthaiga Leg of the Safari Tour; reiterating the brand’s support towards the growth of Golf in the country.

“Johnnie Walker is pleased to announce sponsorship of the Hole-In-one Prize during the Muthaiga leg of the 2018/19 Safari Tour. The first player who holes out in one during the competition will walk away with a prized bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. At KBL, we remain committed to contributing to the growth of sports in Kenya and indeed Johnnie Walker has a rich history of supporting golf locally and internationally.”

Welcoming the announcement, Kenya Open Golf Championship Tournament Director, Patrick Obath, said:

“We are delighted to have Johnnie Walker as our hole-in-one partner for the Muthaiga leg of the Safari Tour Golf series and believe that we will see players getting out of their comfort zones to take calculated risks as they seek to win the prize. We believe that this will, in turn, enhance the scores at the event and consequently increase the competition among players.”

Speaking at the announcement, Muthaiga Golf Club’s resident Professional Golfer, Nelson Mudanyi, welcomed Johnnie Walker’s sponsorship of the Safari Tour adding that it will be an extra incentive for players to bring their best game to the tournament. 

“We are delighted with this sponsorship by Johnnie Walker and are grateful for the support they have shown towards the sport of golf in the country. Their sponsorship of the Muthaiga leg of the Safari Tour will go a long way in improving competition and level of play among the players. I also believe that the extra incentive for the hole-in-one will see players bring out their best during the tournament.”

The announcement comes a day after Johnnie Walker unveiled a KES. 1 Million Sponsorship for the Muthaiga Golf Club leg of the Safari Tour golf series. 

Action at the fifth leg of the Safari tour is set start with a Pro-Am tournament on Saturday 12th January at the Muthaiga Golf Club, where amateurs will get a chance to play alongside the professionals. The main tournament will tee off on Sunday; where up to 50 East African based professionals will battle it out for a stake of the KES. 3 Million prize kitty.
