Kenya started off their team campaign at the Compelexe Sportiff de Bean Basin on a losing note at the ITTF Africa top 16 regional qualifier.
The men’s team lost 0-3 to hosts Mauritius but promised to make up for their undoing in the doubles and singles.
“It was one of those days that you really give it your all but you actually find the opposition really hard determined,” said Kenya team coach Michael Kuria.
Team events continue today with Kenya men’s and women’s teams lined up against Seychelles.
Mauritius defeated the Kenyan men’s team 3-0. Josiah Wandera suffered a straight sets (5-11, 5-11, 12-14) defeat to Allan Arnachellum of Mauritius in the opening match . In the second match Peter Theuri also suffered end a straight set blow (5-11, 5-11, 4-12) to Chan Yook Fo of Mauritius while Brian Mutua also lost 3-1 (6-11, 18-17, 5-11, 8-11).
Kenya men lost 3-1 to Madagascar with Bryan playing his heat out to see off
Women’s Kenya team lost 0-3 to Mauritius and 1-3 to Uganda.
Madagascar men beat Seychelles 3-0. Sultan Geoffrey of Madagascar lost 4-11,3-11, 9-11.
Razandracan Sitrakiniana beat Nicholas Esther 11-6, 11-3, 11-3.
