Jacob Krop win 5,000m silver in Oregon

Africa under 20 5,000m silver medalist Jacob Krop won silver at the last day of World Athletics championships in Eugene, Oregon in the USA.

Krop finished second in the 5,000m race after timing 13:09,24 behind Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen who won gold in 13:09.24, while Uganda’s Oscar Jacob Chelimo settled for bronze in 13:10.20 denying the 10,000m world champion Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei a medal.

Coming from Kapenguria in West Pokot, Krop was too quaick against his training mate Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli, who has the fastest time this season, came in seventh after timing 13:11.94 with Cheptegei finishing ninth in 13:13.12 then compatriot Daniel Simiu Ebenyo was 10th in 13:16.64.

But the search for gold continues since Benjamin Limo won the title in 2005 in Helsinki, Finland.
