Newcomer Janeth Chepngetich was the surprise winner of the 10,000m women race at the ongoing All Africa Games.
The 24 year old won the race when she timed 33:37.00 ahead of Ethiopian trio of Kefale Wede Belew (33:38.37), Bhre Amare Tekan (33:51.50) and Ayana Aberu Mulisa (34:45.37).
With only five athletes finishing the race, Theresa Karbgo came in position five timing 37:24.66.
Her victory handed Kenya her 6th gold with other gold medals coming from mary Moraa (800m), Emily Ngii (20km race walk), Aron Cheminingwa (800m), Beatrice Chepkoech (3,000m steeplechase) and Angela Okutoyi (tennis singles).
Kenya also has six silver and 12 brnoze medals for a total of 24 medals by close of Thursday
